Apparently Tom Cruise, who serves as the public face of Scientology,called Angelina to invite her into the sect under the guise that he wanted to present her with "a special Scientology humanitarian award for her charity work."
A Scientologist said: “Scientology needs someone like Jolie to revive interest in the Church. Angelina Jolie is the one celebrity who can do it. Having her name attached to the Church would result in a huge spike in new membership. She’s a perfect fit for us....It would be fantastic to see those adorable children at our Sunday service.”

I usually take no notice of these reports. There was an open letter sent to Miley Cyrus by anti-scientologists telling her not to join Scientology, after their own guys spread the rumor that she was being recriuited. This made Miley call John Travolta to ask what Scientology was.
