Plaxico Burress Indicted on Gun Charges

As expected, former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was indicted yesterday by a grand jury in New York.

He was hit with two counts of criminal possession and a reckless-endangerment charge. That amounts to two class C violent felonies and a class A misdemeanor.

The charges stem from a December incident during which a concealed gun in the football player's jeans fired — injuring himself and sending him fleeing.

He was unlicensed to carry the weapon, and outgoing Manhattan D.A. Robert Morgenthau has vowed to throw Plaxico in jail for a significant period of time, even if he tried to plead to a lesser charge.

Antonio Pierce, Burress's friend and fellow Giant who was with him that night, is off the hook.
