50 Cent Reveals Why He Became a Drug Dealer at Age 12

50 Cent, whose new album was leaked onto the Internet yesterday (go look for it), says he began dealing drugs at 12 years old because there weren't any other "options."

“I sold drugs and I was in a situation where there weren’t many options available me – I was so young that working wasn’t an option so that’s when I was dealing, when I was 12," he told BANG Showbiz.

When asked if he ever used drugs, he added: "No because I'm obsessive. I do things to an extreme. I know this about myself, I'm an extremist. I wouldn't get high, I would get extremely f***ing high. I'd probably get so high I probably wouldn't come back if I fell into that kind of space. I know myself enough to know that I got to stay away."

His dealing career came to an abrupt end in 1994 however, when the 19-year-old was arrested for trying to sell cocaine to an undercover cop and then he was arrested for possession of heroin, ten ounces of crack cocaine, and a starter gun. Although he was sentenced to up to nine years in prison, 50 Cent spent seven months in a youth "shock incarceration" bootcamp instead.
