Jennifer Hudson is filming a Christmas TV special in her hometown of Chicago to reminisce about her happy childhood.
The new mother suffered a family tragedy last October when her mother, brother and young nephew were killed in a triple murder in the city. William Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister Julia, has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree murder and home invasion.
But Jennifer, who gave birth to her first baby baby last August, is refusing to let the tragedy ruin her childhood memories - she's set to go home for the holidays to relive her favorite traditions in the new special.
She will share childhood memories of the music, people and places that set the stage for her career. Musical performances will be filmed on location throughout the city.
Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas will air in December on ABC.
