Bernie Madoff Got Beatdown in Prison!
WTVD, the ABC affiliate in Raleigh-Durham, is reporting that, according to its sources, convicted Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff suffered facial fractures, broken ribs and a collapsed lung consistent with an assault; he was discharged from Duke University Hospital two days ago. Prison officials, however, would not confirm or deny ABC's report, but they have confirmed that Bernie was moved to the medical wing of the prison last Friday. Bernie's lawyer has since told the AP, his client was admitted to the medical facility because he had "some dizzy spells and some high blood pressure." Getting beat up in prison will leave you dizzy and raise your pressure -- that's for sure. (Addendum: WTVD is now reporting that a source told them Bernie was not attacked in prison, but that he fell off a bed onto his face. The source said there was a lot of facial bleeding.) Bernie, 71, was sentenced to 150 years in prison earlier this year.
