Rapper Juelz Santana Jailed on Drugs, Gun Possession Charges

Juelz Santana (real name: Laron James) was arrested and charged with a myriad of weapons and drug offenses on Tuesday after cops swooped down on his Bergenfield, NJ recording studio, Santana's World Inc., following an extensive 10 month investigation.

After 10 months of investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Gang Unit, Bergenfield Police Department, Bergen County Sheriff's Department and the Bergen County Police Department, authorities executed a search warrant on Jan. 20 at James' Bergenfield recording studio where they discovered two fully loaded 9 mm handguns, an unspecified number of boxes of ammunition, 17 small clear plastic bags containing suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Molinelli. Authorities said James is the founder of the rap group "The Diplomats" and is also a suspected member of the Bloods street gang and found of "Skull Gang," a subset of "The Diplomats." After the weapons and suspected drugs and paraphernalia were seized by police, James was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana, possession of a handgun without having a permit, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana, and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana, within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

Bail was set at $125,000 with no 10 percent option, but he's since been released.
