Grandmother Admits to Drowning 6-year-old Granddaughter in Pond
Virginia Sims has been charged with murder after she admitted to drowning her granddaughter, 6-year-old Alexis Walker (pictured, inset) in a pond near their home in Norman Park, Georgia on Monday night. According to police, Virginia, 46, threatened to hurt her granddaughter anytime there were marital problems between her and her husband. in May 2010, Virginia burnt her house house down and drove her car -- with Alexis in in -- into a tree. We could be wrong, but it sounds like DFCS failed Alexis and Virginia has some serious mental problems. But we digress. After she drowned the girl, Virginia went to a neighbor's house and asked them to call 911.
This is the 911 call.
Completely off-topic: Why is the media so fascinated with the Casey Anthony murder case? Sadly, so many children are killed by their parents in this country everyday and we've been wondering why they're not getting wall-to-wall coverage (yes, we're looking at you Nancy Grace) like this Casey Anthony trial. Just sayin'.
