Lady Gaga has just been slapped with a $5 million lawsuit which claims she scammed money intended for victims of Japan's earthquake. According to the lawsuit filed today in Michigan federal court, Lady Gaga is accused of racketeering and corruption. It all stems from the "We Pray for Japan" wristbands she's selling for $5 a pop; she also charges $3.99 for shipping and handling and $0.60 for tax. The lawsuit alleges that the pop star inflated the shipping cost and pocketed the extra cash. Which reminds us, how is Wyclef's shady charity doing?
Update, June 28: Gaga's spokesperson says, "This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan. The entire five dollar donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements. Lady Gaga has personally pledged her own funds to this cause and continues to support the victims of the disaster."
