Former Washington Redskins wide receiver John Wesley Wilson, also known as Ted Wilson, was sentenced Wednesday to 17 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms offenses. The sentence includes 12 years' imprisonment for three drug-related charges, followed by a mandatory consecutive five years in prison for possessing a firearm. According to the US States Attorney's Office in Zephyrhills, Florida, between 2009 and 2012, John distributed large quantities of cocaine and crack cocaine. In 2009, during the height of his drug trafficking operations, the 48-year-old distributed approximately 100 kilograms of cocaine per month and pocketed more than $1 million in profits. During a search of his home on Dec. 19, 2011, investigators found a quarter-kilogram of cocaine, more than an ounce of crack cocaine, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, and a loaded shotgun. He pleaded guilty on Jan. 18, 2013.
