DMX Owes $1.2 Million in Child Support, Files For Bankruptcy

Rapper, deadbeat dad and frequent arrestee, DMX has filed for bankruptcy, listing less than $50,000 in assets and $1 million to $10 million in debts - $1.3 million of it to "Child Support Enforcement." The 42-year-old, whose real name is Earl Simmons, says he owes $453,702 to Compass Bank; $21,415 to American Honda Finance; a disputed debt of $200,590 to Amusing Diversions Inc.; $1,245,759 to Child Support Enforcement; another $84,410 to Child Support Enforcement; $90,000 to Irina Priporina; another $62,602 to Irina Priporina; and $93,209 to Sergey Priporin. The rapper's publicist issued a statement that read, in part, "DMX's financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport. The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization so he can perform for his fans oversees." DMX is planning a tour in Europe and Africa this fall. The father of 10 children -- four of whom he had with ex-wife Tashera Simmons and six with jumpoffs -- was arrested last week (again) in South Carolina on suspicion of DUI, driving without a license and driving without a seat belt. He was not charged with DUI because he passed a breath test in jail and was released after posting $1,235 in bail.
