Here's Video of Jailers Treating a Mentally Ill Inmate Like an Animal

The family of Elliott Earl Williams, who died at the Tulsa County Jail in October 2011, has slapped the sheriff and the jail's healthcare provider with a civil rights lawsuits because of the jailers' "horrific treatment" of their loved on. In the surveillance video, below, you can see why. While in a booking cell, Elliott -- who's mentally ill and was having a mental breakdown and asked officers twice to shoot him when he was arrested at the Marriott Townhouse Hotel on October 21, 2011 -- ran headfirst into a steel door. He fell to the floor and complained of pain. The lawsuit alleges that detention officers and medical personnel refused treatment, claiming he was faking paralysis. The officers then dragged his naked body on a blanket to a medical unit, where you can see them setting food and water at the edge of his reach, then Williams knocking over the cup as he tries to grab it. Then on the the day Elliot died, you can see jailers flip his body off the blanket and try to revive him. It was too late. His family is suing for "cruel and unusual punishment" and neglect. They're seeking more than $150,000 in damages.
