Man Arrested Trying to Break Into Jail

Let's get to the donkey of the day. Shall we?

Officers at the at the James A. Musick jail in Irvine, Calif. got the shock of their lives at 2am last Saturday after a man tried to break into the joint by driving his Mercedes through the front gates.

According to the Orange County Register, after Matthew Van McDaniel, 25, crashed through the gates, he jumped out and the car, which was still in drive, ran into a tree.

Then Matthew, who was obviously drunk, got into "a little physical altercation" with a Sheriff's Department sergeant then escaped, but was eventually arrested on the premises.

"It's the first time somebody tried to break into the jail," OCSD spokesman Jim Amormino told the paper..

Matthew, a dancer, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and unspecified weapons charges.
