Puffy aka P Diddy aka Diddy aka Sean Combs is planning to launch Revolt, a music-themed cable network on Dec. 12, reports Broadcasting & Cable. According to sources with knowledge of the project, Revolt is "a music and music news channel with an urban skew. One described it as the old days of MTV, but for more of the African American audience." So, basically it'll like BET of yore. The channel is a larger scheme by cable operator Comcast, which has committed itself to launching 10 "independent channels" over the next few years. Eight of those channels will be owned by Hispanics or African Americans. It's already a good year for cable networks targeting blacks: Bounce TV launched last September and two others -- Kin TV (co-founded by Charles Barkley) and Soul of the South -- will launch this spring.
