Mother Reunites With Daughter 50 Years After She Was Told She Died After Birth

Fifty years ago, a woman from Olivette, Missouri named Zella Jackson Price gave birth to a baby girl at Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis. Joy soon turn into pain, however, when doctors told her the baby -- who was born 3 months premature and weighed less than one pound -- died a few hours after she was delivered. The girl was not dead. Instead, she was adopted by another family and was given the name Melanie Diane Gilmore. Diane lost her hearing at the age of three because of a childhood illness and her adoptive mother died when was 20. She moved to Oregon with an adopted relative and began looking for her biological mother soon after. Diane found her mother's name on her own birth certificate and her children located Zella, an accomplished gospel singer, on Facebook. (DNA tests confirmed that 76-year-old Zella and 49-year-old Diane are mother and daughter.) Thursday, they were reunited. “(God) has given me everything the devil has taken from me,” Zella said. “I’m getting it back. I’m getting my baby back.” As for what happened that day in 1965, the family says they plan to investigate.

Here's the video of the emotional reunion:

And this is the video of Diane's children informing her they found her birth mother:

Glory!
