Grammy Awards producers scrambled to book the show last night after it was revealed that Chris Brown and Rihanna, two of the biggest names in music, who were scheduled to perform, would not be in attendance.
What we didn't know was that there was a warrant out for Chris' arrest! Los Angeles police were investigating a case in which Chris allegedly committed felony domestic battery against a woman everyone believes to be his girlfriend Rihanna.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Chris and Rihanna were apparently in a car together and got into an argument on North June Street. He stopped the car, the two got out, and the argument escalated, according to police. Other reports say Chris hit her about the face more than a few times.
A witness called 911, but Brown was gone when officers arrived at the scene. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker, according to police.
Although authorities do not divulge the identity of victims of domestic assault, we've heard reports the woman is not Rihanna. However, people familiar with the case say Rihanna's face had visible bruises (some say she has a broken jaw) and her publicist Amanda Silverman says the singer was indeed involved in a traffic mishap but she "is fine".
Riggghtttt.
Just last week we heard that Rihanna's clingy and obsessed with Chris.
Sources told OK! that she does not let him out of her sight.
She has to have Chris around her 24/7. If Chris is with her on a photo shoot and steps away for a second, she starts saying, ‘Where did he go?....If Chris isn’t with her, she wants to call and check in every second. She’s crazy about him. Rihanna constantly talks about Chris.”
Plus, reports surfaced that Rihanna becomes jealous whenever Chris' female fans get too close.
Some are even saying Rihanna gave herpes to Chris, hence the altercation.
It's important to note: this is not an excuse to hit anyone.
Chris turned himself into police and was booked Sunday night on suspicion of making felony criminal threats. He was booked at the Wilshire Division station and posted $50,000 bail. He left around 9pm with his lawyer Mark Geragos (who defended Michael Jackson in his child molestation case.)
Why is he charged with making criminal threats you ask?
Well, that's a surefire way for police to get Chris into court and get him jail time just in case Rihanna refuses to press charges for assaulting her. Domestic battery victims rarely, possibly out of fear, press charges because they don't want their man to go to jail. Or, they claim "he didn't mean to hit me, it was my fault." We hear this charge (felony criminal threats) can carry a longer jail sentence than just the assault.
An interesting note: Because of Rihanna's cancellation, the Grammy's producers substituted her performance with one from Al Green, Justin Timberlake, Boyz II Men and Keith Urban. Guess what they sang? Al Green's classic "Let's Stay Together."
Isn't that something.
Is Chris' career over at 19?

There is never a reason for a man to beat a woman but if she really gave him herpes she kind of asked for that one.
