Porn Star Could Run for US Senate

Porn star Stormy Daniels and her 36DDs are considering a run for the Senate in Louisiana in 2010.

Her fans have built a Web site to draw interest in her candidacy.

It says: "2010 presents the Pelican State with the opportunity to start with a clean slate -- to elect a representative that we can be proud of, who will work tirelessly, and who will challenge the status quo. We at the Draft Stormy campaign feel that Baton Rouge native Stormy Daniels is best suited to fulfill these duties."

Stormy assures us that this isn't a gimmick and she's seriously considering challenging the current Republican Senator David Vitter, who coincidentally, was involved in a prostitution scandal in 2007 (his phone number turned up in records of an escort service run by the late Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the "DC Madam").

For her part, Stormy is planning a "listening tour" around Louisiana to talk about a range of matters, including the economy -- which along with women in business and protection of children are the three issues listed on her Web site. When told Vitter can be a tough opponent, she said she's "always up for a good fight."
"I think anyone that knows me ... is more than aware of that. Politics can't be any dirtier of a job than the one I am already in."

What's her position on the issues that matter to voters?

On the economy:
Stormy knows first hand the effect our economy is having on working families and businesses. As a dancer, she sees it on the faces of those who come to see her for a little diversion and as a leader in a multi-billion dollar industry she feels it in the loss of revenue and jobs stemming from a dangerous encroachment on the inherent guarantees of our free market system.

On women in business:
Stormy believes that women can not only succeed in businesses typically run by men, but can do better. This is what inspired her a few years ago to take the reins of her own destiny and add director and screenwriter to her resume.

On protecting children:
Stormy believes that our children are the future and cares deeply about them. This is why she insists that protecting our children is not simply a moral issue, but a national security issue. Stormy would be a leading advocate for legislation leading to the prevention of underage access to adult material on the internet. While she is a strong supporter of the First Amendment, Stormy believes that the maturation that comes with age is necessary to responsibly view adult material. She would support all measures that are both responsible and appropriate to prevent children from viewing material they are ill suited to view.

Have we taken this whole "yes we can" mantra too far? Or, can she really get elected? Will she be holding "meetings" in her Senate office?
