Charlamagne Lands Morning Show Job in Philly
Our second favorite radio personality, is not being left for dead on a dirt road in South Crack (that's South Carolina, for those not familiar).
Charlamagne Tha God announced today that he will be staying up north, as he just signed on to be the host of Philadelphia's 100.3 the Beat morning show beginning May 1.
This is something he has been working toward since he entered radio and is excited for the opportunity.
"I've learned a lot from the Queen [Wendy Williams] and without her giving me the platform as her co-host the past three years, this hosting my own morning show thing wouldn't be possible," he told us this afternoon.
The Morning Beat w/Charlamagne Tha God will be "all me", save for a DJ and a man on the street and will feature his "politically incorrect views and potentially dangerous rhetoric. A lot of music. Hip Hop and R&B gonna play the hits, break new records, throw a lot of grease and try to educate people at the same time."
Philly get ready to put your grease shield up, because Charlamagne is the greatest grease thrower there is. A lot of people will get their feelings hurt in the process.
"Like Wendy, I'm not a friend of the industry so I won't be kissing the ass of celebs and I'm just gonna bring that honest opinion to the airwaves," he says.
For his first day, the radio station is planning a huge promotion.
"...we’ll allow Charlamagne to take over the station from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. giving away $100 dollars every half hour as a part of him getting to know Philadelphia listeners on day one,” Radio One's operational manager Elroy Smith said.
Go, Charlamagne, goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! (that's for the regular Experience listeners.)
Here's the station's Web site and don't worry, we'll be following him on this blog, too.
