Keifer Sutherland Headbutted Fashion Designer
Keifer Sutherland, star of "24" headbutted fashion designer Jack McCollough early Tuesday morning at an after party for the Met Costume Institute's Gala at SubMercer lounge in New York City.
According to witnesses, Keifer sprung into action hero mode after Jack, one half of the Proenza Schouler design team, bumped into Brooke Shields, whom he was trying to "get to know" at the bar.
Keifer took offense and demanded the designer apologize to Brooke. But the two men got into a heated argument that ended with Keifer head-butting Jack, according to the police.
Some witnesses said Jack suffered a broken nose at SubMercer, but he told cops all he got was a small cut on his schnoz.
Police investigators have the misdemeanor case now and are reaching out to Keifer to get his side of the story; Brooke is on Jack's side.
Her reps say the designer did nothing to deserve the head-butt and although she did get jostled, possibly off her feet, "nothing happened to her."
Jack told investigators Keifer "was drunk and obnoxious and wouldn't back down or be logical" then smalled him in the face.
A police source quoted Jack as saying the dustup "wasn't even over anything . . . he was just roiling drunk and looking for something to smack. It didn't matter what."
Keifer is now wanted by the NYPD for questioning.
Update: Kiefer Sutherland will surrender to prosecutors in several weeks. He will simply be issued a desk appearance ticket for the misdemeanor - meaning he won't be jailed and will be free to travel before his arraignment date. Additionally, we hear Keifer wants all of this to go away and his lawyer is in talks with Jack's lawyers to work out a financial settlement.
