Whitney Slays NY, Lands ABC Special

If anyone had doubts Whitney Houston is coming back with a vengeance, last night's listening party at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City smashed them.

Like a similarly successful listening event in London last week, nine of the 11 tracks were played -- many of them were described as hit singles.

“Million Dollar Bill" an uptempo hip-hop influenced song written by Alicia Keys got the most favorable response and Alicia, who was in attendance, got up and danced about as it was played to a room full of Whitney supporters and celebrities, including Martha Stewart, Vivica Fox, Gayle King, Dionne Warwick, L.A. Reid, Charles Koppelman, and Andre Harrell. Mom Cissy Houston and daughter Bobbi Kristina were also there.

The Alicia Keys-penned song isn't the only hit. Whitney's uptempo cover of Leon Russell’s “A Song for You” also got the crowd going, as did a mid-tempo number called “Nothin’ But Love.” R. Kelly brought his musical genius to the mix, too, with two solid tracks. One of them being the title track, “I Look to You” and another called “Salute”.

It's also being reported by Showbiz 411 that ABC will run a Whitney special the last week of August, days before the album goes on sale Sept. 1. Since Diane was in the audience, one can assume she will be interviewing Whitney again. Remember the last time these two sat down? There were fireworks! Whitney will also perform on "Good Morning America."

Whitney's third and final scheduled listening party is in Los Angeles tomorrow.
