A Celebrity is Planning to Come Out of the Closet on May 5! [Updated With Name]

Public relations guru Howard Bragman -- otherwise known as the coming out king of Hollywood -- has planted a seed: one of his clients will make a major announcement on May 5 that he/she is gay. He dropped that nugget of information on the red carpet at GLAAD Media Awards red carpet last Sunday.

While Howard was mum on the pertinent details, like who, he did reveal that the person has scheduled an interview with People magazine and is booked on several major talk shows that week, including "The View."

"In Hollywood most publicists keep their clients in the closet. And I'm the guy people tend to come to when they want to come out of the closet," Howard said.

He's helped several people, including NFL defensive lineman Isera Tualo, LPGA star Rosie Jones, WNBA star Sheryl Swoops and retired NBA center John Amaechi come out. And he also had a hand in former "Party of Five" star Mitchell Anderson, "Married with Children" co-star Amanda Bearse and actor Dick Sargent to come out on Entertainment Tonight.

Additionally, "he planned Chaz Bono's announcement of a transition from woman to man and got the news about Meredith Baxter being a lesbian out before tabloids reported her taking a lesbian cruise."

So, who could it be? It could be anyone. Sidebar: Has Queen Latifah come out yet?

Update: We now know who it is. It's country singer Chely Wright. Who? She tells People, "There had never, ever been a country music artist who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality. I wasn't going to be the first." She timed this revelation with the release of her memoir and new album. We hate the whole "celebrity" culture because of that, so if you want to know more about her book and CD, Google it.
