Woman Died of Heart Attack While Getting a Nose Job, Surgeons Continued to Operate

A British woman, whose death is being investigated, suffered a heart attack and brain damage during a nose job surgery on Nov. 22, 2005, but the plastic surgeon held the ambulances at bay for at least 45 minutes while he continued with the surgery.

Kelly McLure, 31, died six months later. She had an underlying medical condition, which she didn't discuss with the plastic surgeon until the day of the nose job.
The court heard that after going in for the surgery at 1pm, an hour later her pulse dramatically dropped before she went into cardiac arrest and an ambulance was called. She was in cardiac arrest for ten minutes while Dr Moustafa carried out cardiac massage and then administered adrenalin intravenously and directly into her heart. Although defibrillator pads were placed on her chest, her heart was never shocked. Once a pulse was found, paramedics and the matron of the Belvedere wanted Mrs McClure to be taken straight to A&E at Queen Elizabeth’s hospital in south London. But Dr Moustafa said she was “stable” and insisted the procedure could be completed. An ambulance left an hour after it arrived, at 3.15pm. The doctors said yesterday they did not know why Mrs McClure had the heart attack. The court heard that Dr Keith Woods, her haematologist, had warned her of the dangers of the procedure.
Kelly's husband his wife would never have done anything that would harm her or put her life at risk.
