Weeks after a woman cut off the penis of a man who was trying to sexually assault her, a Connecticut victim of a sexual assaulted, fought back, too. Late last night, Gerard Michael Landon, 46 -- who apparently has a history of psychological problems -- attempted to sexually assault a woman in her 50s in an alleyway near a church rectory. According to police, Gerard approached as she was leaving the Basilica of St. John the Evangelist and asked her for a hug. When the woman refused, Gerard grabbed her and, while she screamed for help, wrestled her to the ground in some bushes and flowers along the landscaped alleyway. While he was trying to sexually assault her, he kissed the woman and forced his tongue into her mouth. In am attempt to fend off the attacker, the woman bit off about an inch of the man's tongue and part of his right cheek. He fled. When police arrived on the scene, they were able to recover the piece of tongue and notified area medical centers that they were looking for a man who had about an inch of his tongue missing. Cut to this morning. When Gerard showed up at a local clinic this morning seeking treatment for his injured tongue, the staff called police. When police arrived, the man tried to escape, but he was caught after a short foot pursuit. Prior to being taken into custody on Friday, Gerard grabbed a woman's breasts and poked his umbrella at another woman, police said.
