'Moorish National' Squatting in $3 Million Mansion Refuses to Leave (UPDATE: She Got Arrested)

A woman who calls herself a "Moorish national" (these are nutjobs who claim to be members of an indigenous black tribe independent of US jurisdiction) and considers herself a sovereign citizen (which means she doesn't believe laws apply to her similar to this lady and this lady) has been squatting in $3 million Memphis estate since last week. The bank, which owns the property, gave Tabitha Gentry aka Abka Re Bey 24 hours to evacuate or risk removal by force. That was two days ago. But, Tabitha isn't afraid of the law. In fact, she was arrested last October after she tried to run over a police officer during a traffic stop. When a reporter from the local ABC affiliate confronted Tabitha today as she got out of a white Jaguar to unchain the front gate, she said she has no plans to leave and when asked what she planned to do if the police came to force her out, she said: "I'll deal with them." As an these "Moorish nationals" are known to file false legal documents -- including fake liens, deeds and property claims -- in courts around the country. For instance, in paperwork filed with the county on February 25, Tabitha claims to own the private property, writing that she is seizing the 10,000 square foot mansion with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms "in the name of Allah, the Most High, Creator of the Heavens and Earth." Bwahahahahahaha!

Update, March 8: Cops swooped down on the mansion last night and arrested Tabitha. She was charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property over $60,000 and criminal trespass. Her bail is set at $2 million, so she'll be behind bars for the foreseeable future. BTW: Her 13-year-old daughter was also taken into custody.
