States Consider Ban on Teen Tanning

Last week it was bikini waxes that were the focus of your local government at work. Today, we learn that Texas and Florida are proposing restrictions on tanning for teens in those states.

Texas would require minors to get a doctor’s note before using a tanning bed and would also necessitate that a parent be with them during the treatment. Florida lawmakers are going as far as to propose a total ban on fake-baking for teens under the age of 16.

If passed, Texas and Florida will join 29 other states who restrict minors’ access to tanning beds and the World Health Organization recommends that no one under the age of 18 be permitted to use them at all.

The Indoor Tanning Association, however, say artificial UV exposure present in tanning beds is completely safe.

Riiiiiggggghhhhhtttt.
