Li Fu, 37, was stabbed in a robbery while working as a cab driver in 1996. He was treated at a local hospital where doctors cleaned his wound and gave him disinfectant shots. Police later caught the perpetrator and found the broken knife handle - but they never found the blade was never recovered. Well, until last month when Li, who was suffering from constant migraines, went to a doctor, who requested an X-ray. Li and his family were so shocked by the X-ray results, they asked for a second opinion before agreeing to let doctors operate.Dr Xu Wen, vice-director of stomatology at Yu Xi City People's Hospital, said: "We were amazed to see such a long blade in his face. And it's even more amazing to think that the blade had been there for more than four years and the patient was still living without too many problems."He is now recovering after surgeons removed the knife, which had penetrated his tongue root, muscles and brain, in a complicated four-hour procedure.
