A California woman stunned shoppers yesterday, when she offered to pay for everyone's purchases inside a local discount store. Granted, the store is called Everything a Deal -- where everything sells for $9.99 or less -- but the more than 500 shoppers who took up Claudia Smith on her offer, left a $7,200 dent on bank account. When asked why she's so generous, the 66-year-old said she just wanted to do something nice for poor Mexican women. When pressed further, Claudia shouted: "Here I am. Happy, joyous, and free." Is she high? Or, is just dumping cash in preparation for the rapture? Or, is she high and drunk? Apparently, we aren't the only ones asking that question. Marco Mitrowke, director of loss prevention for 15 Everything a Deal stores, tried to keep Claudia, who was screaming obscenities and shouting “Aye, Aye Aye Aye, Ayeeeeee!” throughout the day. He had the police check her out to make sure she was mentally competent. Claudia said she has been “drinking and drugging” since she was 15. She said she was not under the influence Wednesday, but admitted she suffered through a five-month long alcohol and drug blackout not long ago and had entertained suicidal thoughts. She's gonna turn back to the bottle once she sees her checking account balance.
