Kelly Ripa and Husband Have Split. Or, Have They?
The National Enquirer newspaper's (shut up, it is a news paper) cover story this week is screaming that talk show host Kelly Ripa and her husband, actor Mark Consuelos, are calling their 12-year-relationship quits.
The newspaper is saying that since Mark has landed a regular gig on Oprah, he wants to move to Chicago. But Kelly, a co-host on Live with Regis & Kelly, based in NYC, is furious. So, Mark has packed his bags and walked out on Kelly and their three children.
"Mark wants the big time and he knows Oprah is his ticket," a source told The Enquirer. "He told Kelly for the right opportunity, he'd move to Chicago if he had to.
However, the couple is fighting mad, claiming that the story is false and that The Enquirer knows it, and they are demanding a retraction.
This could get very interesting.
Their lawyer and PR rep are all shooting down the rumors.
Michael P. Zweig, their attorney, has sent a ceast-and-desist letter to the Enquirer, which read, in part; "Ms. Ripa and Mr. Consuelos are and remain happily married and living together at their home in New York City."
He continues by saying the story and headlines are "ridiculous and represent little more than a cynical and malicious attempt to injure my clients and their family, to boost flagging circulation, and to trade off of the good reputation, image and deserved celebrity of my clients."
Stan Rosenfield, Kelly's agentm, said: "There is no truth to the story. Their marriage continues to be quite healthy, and the National Enquirer should be ashamed for fabricating such an untruthful story... Their story is 100 percent false."
This could get very interesting.
We'll stay on it.
