Stations Are Afraid of The Wendy Williams Show

Seems like some TV stations are not feeling the Wendy love.

According to Mort Marcus, co-president of Debmar-Mercury, producer of The Wendy Williams Show, the economic downturn is forcing some stations to cancel some shows syndication, like The Tyra Banks Show, and not embracing new programming.

Says Marcus:

Wendy Williams was a six-week, 30-episode test. We aren't trying to sell stations a show based on a four-minute tape, which is what usually happens. We literally have 30 episodes to watch, and we have ratings information from four cities where we've tested it. People really like it, but we're still not getting anywhere close to the cash licenses we were expecting to get. Stations are afraid, and I don't blame them. We believe Wendy is still a bet worth taking.
