Amy Winehouse is Working on Reggae Album, Label Tells Her No, No, No
Amy Winehouse's bosses at Island Records have told the singer to go back to the drawing board after she played demo tracks from her third album, according to the Sun.
The bosses are not pleased with direction she's taking. After vacationing on the island of St. Lucia for more than a month, she apparently was influenced by the sounds of the Caribbean and has penned a reggae album.
“Amy was very productive during her stay in St Lucia. She wrote a hell of a lot of songs, but the majority of them just aren’t hitting the mark," an insider says. "She seems to have ditched her trademark vintage soul sound and is now heavily influenced by reggae. Her bosses don’t think it’s a wise move to change her style so sharply and have told her that.”
The label is also concerned about the "dark" and "harrowing" lyrics about estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
Her last album, Back to Black, which sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, was released in October 2006.
