Kathy Griffin Booed at the Apollo Theater

Nooooooooooooo! Not our Kathy!

Comedian Kathy Griffin made an appearance last night at Harlem's legendary Apollo Theater and performed stand-up as part of the usually brutal amateur night show.

According Michael Musto, Kathy was booed off the stage.

We hope it was just an act and all scripted for her Bravo reality show, which is currently filming, because if she really were booed off the stage, then that's just very D-list.

We actually find her to be hilarious!

Update: It actually happened. Here is the clip of the boo-ation.

Update #2: Here is Kathy re-telling the joke that got her booed.

No she wasn't. I was there. She was hilarious and the audience loved her. Probably fabricated using the show's publicist to get buzz or because on the D List show they are going to pretend she was booed off.

I watched it last night. She was introduced by none other than Al Sharpton himself but was angry at her later for her indecent language. It was kids talent night & foul mouth Kathy got very very profaned language. Blacks while liberals on socail programs are conservative on alot of moral issues and kids were present! UGH!

How are these people not aware of the type of act that Kathy performs. They all seem to know who she is so why would they book her on an amateur night....and with kids there?

She needs to get a clue Black folks are very religious she said Jesus sucks at an awards show before! Shame on Al Sharpton calling himself a Rev. then praising her giving her an introduction at the APollo-known for class acts not idiots like Kathy Griffin!

oh good god people...Kathy Griffin is probably the best thing that has set foot on that crappy Apollo floor. Lets face it...Apollo=GHETTO.

Kathy said the word "pussy" and the stage manager harrassed her for disrespecting the theatre and its audience. Ridiculous! This is the same theatre that hosted Richard Pryor and Chris Rock. Trust me, everyone would have laughed their asses off if either one of those acts had used much fouler language. Whoever manages the acts at the Apollo needs to find someone more kid-appropraite for their amateur nights. This has little to do with Kathy.

Just a bad organization on the Apollo's part. They should have known on which night to book her. She was not booed, but she was definitely nervous on stage probably due to the fact that there were more white people in the audience than blacks. I really don't know why she wanted to perform at Apollo in the first place. It is definitely not a good environment for a white comic.

For the previous poster yes people laughed their asses off when Richard Pryor an Chris Rock performed there but you are missing the point!
It was not kids talent night either! Would you want Kathy Griffin as a role model to your young daughter???

I hardly think Kathy Griffin thinks of herself as a role model. I think the mistake was the Apollo's for booking her on Amateur Family Night. Also, she asked the manager if the kids would be gone, and he told her they would be by the time she performed. So - it would seem the problem was the producer and stage manager.

they CANNOT pull that you disrespected us bullshit over her...yes her comedy is vulgur and controversial, but it is smart. they can't blame her for this i can guarentee she will not go down for this. this is the apollo's fault for booking her anywhere near children, they should just own up to it.

She did not say Jesus sucks during her Emmy acceptance speech. C'mon already with that one! She was making fun of people who go religious onstage during awards shows, as if God had anything to do with the vulgar crap they won the award for. I still remember a hilarious "In Living Color" sketch about the same thing. She wasn't making fun of Jesus but of phony shows of religion.

She never should have been booked for a night with kids around. What the h**l was the theater management thinking?

For real, Kathy Griffin has never pretended to be a childrens role model! What were they expecting? She is truly hilarious, and would have done well at the Apollo, had it not been for the poor management.

It is completely the management's fault. They should have researched Kathy Griffin a little more before allowing her to preform in front of kids. Kathy went on stage and did what she does. If they were stupid enough to let her anywhere near kids thats their stupid mistake. They should apologize to kathy, as she was obviously embarrased and it was completley the Apollo's fault. Ps. KATHY IS DA BOMB!!!

She did not say "Jesus sucks". Get your facts strait! If you must, watch it on youtube. Know what your talking about before you shoot your mouth off. Yeah, the Apollo "as a class act" NOT! if I had a buck for every time someone used the word F*** or N***** on that stage I would have more money that Kathy.

My kid heard the joke and he laughed his ass off...he is 8. They need to get a life.

It's not about color. For a comedian that is not an icon, tough nights are common. If she'd have been booed at a non-urban establishment, this wouldn't be an issue. It happens to all comics. Lose the racial profiling folks and get a clue. 19th century thinking doesn't work in the 21st century.

I feel compelled to come to Kathy's defense, but it looks like the sensible people are outweighing the morons here, so I guess I don't have to. Good; I can go back to YouTube where I'm needed. There's plenty of idiocy afoot there.
