Sir Charles Works the Prison Yard

Welcome to jail, Charles.

Charles Barkely surrendered to Arizona's Tent City Jail on Saturday to serve his three-day sentence for DUI.

Upon his surrender, he gave a press conference!

"You come here when you screw up. I don't blame anybody for this situation but myself," he says.

He gets to wear street clothes, instead of the lovely prison stripes and pink underwear, because - technically - he's on work release.

"None of the work-release people [wear uniforms]," Barkley said. "But if y'all really, really want to put me as low as I can go, I can do that and make you feel better."

The reporters even asked him about the Rihanna beat down, to which he answered:
"I wish both of them the best, but it's never acceptable to hit a woman. Period."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says Charles will be staying in a private tent, for his safety and meals were brought to him.

Update:
Barkley was released before 8am this morning after spending roughly 36 hours in Tent City jail.

He received 12 hours of work release on Sunday and Monday.

As part of his please, he must pay more than $2,000 in fines and install an ignition-interlock device on his vehicles.
