New Jersey police are investigating a woman's claim that she was raped by two men at the home of New Jets safety Kerry Rhodes, although the Morris County prosecutor said the player is not a suspect in the case.
According to reports, a Canadian tourist, said she met Rhodes and another man at a New York nightclub before being taken to a home in Morristown, N.J., where Rhodes owns a town house, said police.
Morris County prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi issued a statement Monday, saying "Mr. Rhodes is not the target of any criminal investigation. Rumors and media reports to the contrary are untrue."
Rhodes issued a statement earlier through a team spokesman.
"I briefly talked with police on Saturday regarding an incident that allegedly took place at my home," Rhodes said. "The police confirmed to me that I am not the subject of this allegation."
In a statement Monday night, the Jets reiterated that Rhodes isn't a target in the investigation and referred further questions to the prosecutor's office.
Rhodes, who was drafted out of Louisville in 2005, signed a $33 million, five-year contract extension with the Jets last year. He has 12 interceptions and nine sacks in 64 games over four seasons, and is expected to be a major playmaker in new coach Rex Ryan's defense.
Rhodes also plays the role of the bowling alley owner in Wendy's soon-to-be-released film "Queen of Media."
