Man Tried to Get in a Car With Ryan Seacrest, Charged with Assault

A man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a security guard who tried to stop him from getting into a car with "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, reports the AP.

Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. tried to enter Ryan's vehicle on Tuesday as the radio/TV host left a charity appearance at Children's Hospital of Orange County.

According to police, security guards tried to stop Chidi and a scuffle broke out. During the fight Chidi allegedly choked one of the guards, who nearly became unconscious.

Ryan pulled away and was not involved.

Appearing in court today, Chidi, 25, pled guilty to battery, assault and possession of a switchblade.

He was sentened to 15 days in jail and three years probation. He was also ordered to stay away from the Children's Hospital and Ryan. Should he violate any of those terms, he will he hauled into jail for six months and/or fined $1,000.
