Dave Chappelle's Attempt at Setting Joke-Telling Record Goes Down The Drain

Where is Dave Chappelle you ask? He's not on the teevee anymore, but he was in Los Angeles last weekend telling jokes.

Dave was at Laugh Factory in Hollywood on Sunday trying to win back the title of most continuous hours spent telling funny jokes.

But, after five hours, nature called and Dave walked away to go to the bathroom and was disqualified.

"There are only two rules," club owner Jamie Masada said. "You have to continuously tell jokes that are funny and you can't leave the stage, even to go to the bathroom."

Maybe next year the club will provide a lapel mic or a catheter.

So, as of now, Dane Cook's 2008 record of seven hours, 34-minutes still stand. Dave's best was six hours, seven minutes in 2007; Richard Pryor set the original record of two hours and 41 minutes, in 1980.
