For the first time since the death of their son, Pastor Ashley B Jewell and his wife Purtis are speaking out, refuting claims that their son AJ Jewell -- the ex-fiance of Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Kandi Burruss who was killed, allegedly by a co-worker, last October -- was not murdered.
"My son's life has been taken from him and no one seems to care," Mrs Jewell told My Fox Atlanta.
In the weeks after AJ's death, suspect Frederick Richardson has been released from jail and the medical examiner, from his preliminary testing, found that AJ may died from other medical issues.
But his parents are certain: the beating was the cause of their son's death.
"His head was so swollen you couldn't see his ears on both sides. His chest was black and blue, he had so many bruises it was unreal. So for someone to say the cause of death was sickle cell is totally unreal," they said. "If you examine the police report, it says my son was beaten helplessly."
The Jewells say they are willing to go so far as to have AJ's body exhumed to get an independent autopsy performed and say Frederick should be charged with murder.
