According to a new study of President Obama's family tree done by Ancestry.com, he and billionaire Warren Buffett are seventh cousins, three times removed, and share a great-grandfather who owned slaves in Maryland.
That hardly makes them "family", but we digress.
The New York Times reports: "The ancestor, Mareen Duvall, emigrated from France to Maryland as an indentured servant in the 1650s, the genealogists reported. By 1659, Mr. Duvall had purchased property in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, which he later named 'Middle Plantation,' the report said. According to historical records, Duvall belonged to a religious sect called the Jacobites, was a slave owner, planter and merchant and was 'conservative in his political life.'"
Last month a woman - who is white - claimed First Lady Michelle is her cousin.
