Sisters Have Stomachs Removed In The Hope of Preventing Cancer
Two sisters with a rare hereditary condition have went under the knife to have their stomachs removed to lessen the risk of developing cancer.
Meeta and Ravindra Singh were born with a mutant E-cadherin gene, that is so rare only 100 families in the world has it, the Telegraph reports.
Their father, two uncles, grandmother and cousin have all died because of the cancer-causing gene.
Doctors say the sisters will live a normal life without stomachs. There are some limitations: They can only eat about 10 mouthfuls of food per meal, but after a year, a small pouch will form allowing them to eat more.
