Lying,Thieving Lawyer Is Going to Prison For Ripping Off Taxpayers

And now for the donkey of the day.

A Houston criminal defense attorney who twice ran for judge and was disciplined by the state bar several times is expected to surrender his law license and be sentenced to 12 years in prison for theft and aggravated perjury, reports the the Houston Chroncile.

Carlos Correa, 64, was convicted of theft on Wednesday after prosecutors accused him of stealing more than $178,000 in Social Security checks sent to his father from 1996 to 2008. His father died in 1996, but Carlos (nor anyone in his family) notified the SSA.

That money, belonged to us -- taxpayers.

As for the perjury charge, that stems from accusations Carlos asked a friend to act as a witness and lie on the stand during a 2006 murder trial.

According to prosecutors, he had a family friend pretend to be a Mary Kay Cosmetics employee and go to the Nebraska home of a witness in the murder case. He then told her what to say on the witness stand to discredit the witness' account.

Good riddance!
