Jared Ahlstrom, 31, of Harriman, Utah, is facing charges after cops say he drugged his pregnant girlfriend.
According to an arrest affidavit Jared wanted his girlfriend to get an abortion after she told him she was pregnant with his child. When she refused, he allegedly put the drug Misoprostol -- a drug that is known to cause abortions which he purchased in Mexico and it's the same drug this crazy lady used to try and kill her husband's jumpoff's baby -- into her food while on a hiking trip on the Grand Mesa back in January of 2009.
The drugging led to a miscarriage, but the victim didn't realize her boyfriend had drugged her until he admitted to doing so in November. He also apparently attempted the same stunt before the January 2009 incident on another hiking trip with the woman, according to police. That trip caused complications for the woman, but the unborn baby survived the first attempt.
After the second drugging, the woman began to have pelvic pain and some bleeding and 90 minutes later she went to her doctor, who had her deliver the baby. The baby was stillborn at 16 weeks, but her doctor said he didn’t know why the woman miscarried and that it was “very unusual,” the affidavit said. The woman said she wanted an autopsy done to determine why the baby died, but Jared protested, saying he wanted their baby cremated, but he did not want the ashes, the affidavit said. The woman had the baby cremated.
Jared is charged with one felony count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy. He faces up to six years in prison and a $500,000 dollar fine if convicted.
