Woman Stole $750,000 to Pay For Wedding

A British woman has been sentenced to two years in jail after she stole more than $750,000 from her former employer to pay for her wedding.

According to the Daily Mail, Joanne Kent transferred the money from Wilson UK Ltd, a company that provides supplies to the oil industry, to her bank accounts and made it look like she made legitimate transfers to other companies. The money was used for her September 2007 wedding in which she paid for a fireworks display and overnight stays at a lavish hotel and Armani bracelets for all of her guests.

She quit the company two months before the wedding.

Joanne, pictured above on her wedding day, also admitted in court that she spent the money on a new Mazda worth $61,000 and an Audi A4.

The company's financial manager discovered the scam when she noticed that Joanne made a payment to an American company in British pounds instead of dollars.

The judge had sentenced her to two years and eight months in prison, but reduced it to two years because Kent has two young children.
