NeNe's Son Arrested For Drug Possession -- But Guess What Serious Crime He Was Charged With in 2005!?!

Bryson Bryant, the 20-year-old son of Linnethia Leakes (star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta), was arrested Sunday night while visiting an inmate at Gwinnett County jail.

As cops arrested him for failing to appear in court for a traffic violation, they found marijuana on his person.

Bryson, whose mug shot is above, total bail for both charges was set at $998 and he was released today at 12:21am.

This wasn't his first arrest, however. (Make sure you read the entire post for the details.)

After the news broke of Sunday's arrest, NeNe issued this statement: “Like any parent, I am disappointed with the actions and arrest of my son, Bryson. Certainly, my husband and I will deal with this family issue in a private manner. My son is not the first young adult to experiment with marijuana, and he certainly won’t be the last. Still, as parents, this is a chance for us to have an open dialogue with him about the dangers of any substance abuse. I realize as a parent that my job is never done. And as I’ve tweeted, tough love was in order. Still, I ask that you respect our privacy during this trying time.”

We did a search of local court records and found someone sharing the same name and age and ADDRESS as NeNe's son that was charged with rape back in September 2005 when he was either 15 or 16 years old. (Addendum: It is NeNe's son) Despite his age, he was being tried as an adult. (The judge denied his attorney's request to move the trial to juvenile court.) After several court hearings and subsequent motions throughout the summer and fall of 2006, the charges were dropped in 2007.
