500 Pounds of Cargo Returns Safely to Miami

Trapped in a foreign country since the deadly earthquake that struck Haiti last January, 40-year-old Dominique Lanoise finally returned to the United States today -- but it was no easy feat.

According to NBCMiami, Dominique, a naturalized US citizen, travelled to her homeland last November via a private plane to take care of her ailing mother. Sadly, all of her family members were killed during the Jan. 12 earthquake; she suffered an injured leg. She was evacuated on a flatbed truck to neighboring Dominican Republic, but when no commercial airline would take her back to Miami citing her obesity (she weighs 485 pounds), Dominique was stranded on the island. She didn't know how or when she'll see her seven children again.

Problem solved.

This morning the Dominican Republic air force transported her to Miami on a military cargo plane used for military vehicles and heavy equipment.

When she landed she said, "I am so happy to be here. I want to thank the president of the Dominican Republic and everybody for treating me so nice. I've caused enough problems."

PS: What's that smell?
