25-year-old James Darrell Burden of Jacksonville, Fla. was charged with aggravated battery against a pregnant woman on Monday after he punched and kicked his 30-year-old pregnant girlfriend in the stomach because he doesn't want to become a father.
Police said the man came home at 12:20 a.m. and grabbed the woman by the hair, dragging her out of bed onto the floor. He told her she had one week to get an abortion or he would make her lose the child. Then he forced her on her back and told her to “let me kick your stomach or I will kick you in your face,” according to the arrest report. Police saw no visible injuries on the woman, who said her stomach was sore but refused a city rescue unit and said she would go to the hospital herself.James told police the woman cooked up this assaulted as retaliation because he dumped her a few days ago.
