Pastor: Sexual Coercion Exists in the Black Church

Rev. Dennis Meredith, who's the pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church in northeastern Atlanta, says he'll preach a sermon on Sunday about homosexuality in the black church because it's "something that exists in the church, and it's something we have to deal with and have to speak to.” The pastor's sermon has everything to do with the recent lawsuits filed by four young men who accuse prominent Atlanta "bishop" Ms. Eddie Long of of coercing them into sexual relationships as teens, luring them with lavish gifts and extravagant trips and told the boy's it was a "healthy component" of their spiritual lives and God cosigned the abuse.

Rev. Meredith is bisexual and says when he was 14 years old when a "church leader" coerced him into a sexual relationship. He adds: “Homophobia in the black church is a tremendous problem, we don't talk about it.”
