An 85-year-old New Mexico woman, whose toes were bitten off by rats, has died. Maria Najera suffered from diabetes and was unable to feel her toes as they were being eaten. She was hospitalized on Dec. 20 and died last Thursday of pneumonia.
Sidebar: She had at least seven dogs living in the home, but they were quarantined and found not to be responsible for biting off Ms Najara's toes.
