A police officer in the town of Mesquite, Texas has come under fire after he is seen on video pepper spraying a baby squirrel that had began chasing students around at Kimbrough Middle School on Wednesday. The students weren't too afraid, however, and they're overhead pleading with the officer to "don't spray him!" Unsurprisingly, the police department defended Officer Davis, saying the officer used his pepper spray on the squirrel to protect the welfare of the students. Really. Sidebar: The squirrel was recovered by animal control and released back into the wild.
