Heavy D is Dead

Legendary rapper Heavy D had died. Andrew Weitz of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment confirmed the rapper's death in an email Tuesday, without giving a cause of death or saying where he died. However, the Lt. Mark Rosen of the Beverly Hills police said the Jamaica-born rapper, who's real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, died in a Los Angeles hospital after collapsing outside his home. Rosen said Beverly Hills police officers were dispatched to Heavy D's condominium building this morning after receiving a report of an unconscious person laying on the walkway of a building. They found the rapper at 11:25am conscious and communicative but had difficulty breathing and was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he later died. Police found no signs of foul play and believe his death is medically related. He said Heavy D "was returning home from shopping. He experienced difficulty breathing while walking into his condominium building. He was being assisted up to his apartment by building personnel when he collapsed in an exterior hallway." Reports claim he died from a heart attack, but an official cause of death is pending an autopsy by Los Angeles County coroners. He was 44.

We believe this is his final performance. He performed alongside LaToya Jackson at the "Michael Forever" concert on Oct. 8 in Cardiff, United Kingdom.
