83-year-old Lady Busted For Stealing Live Lobsters From Grocery Store For a Month
An 83-year-old woman is facing shoplifting charges for her part in a shoplifting ring that stole live lobsters from an Atlanta grocery store. According to police, surveillance video from the Great Wall Supermarket showed Luciana Vonberman stuffing live lobsters into her purse at least three times within 23 days. Luciana could be seen with her back to the camera sitting in a mobile cart at the store, while her son, Jason Vonberman, takes a bag of lobsters out of his cart to put them in his mother's purse while another woman (Yong Chen) served as a lookout. Store employees called police, who confronted the trio while exiting the store. When an officer looked in her purse, he says he found two containers of oysters and a bag of ginger on top of other items. While issuing Luciana a citation for misdemeanor shoplifting, police say she begged to go to the restroom, where removed six live lobsters from her purse and placed them into the trash. Authorities did not arrest Luciana because she was in poor health, instead giving her, her son and Yong warnings. They were all told to never set foot in the supermarket again. An arrest warrant was later issued for Jason Vonberman, who remains at-large.
