Porche Wright, 27, of Sacramento, California was arrested Saturday after she tried to kill her 7-year-old by dousing her in gasoline then lit her on fire. A family friend called police after noticing the girl’s burns. When officers and paramedics arrived they found the 7-year-old girl, whose name is Taylor, with serious burns. “She was burned so bad, face and everything, it was really really severe,” a neighbor said. The girl was rushed to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital where is currently being treated for severe burns; She is expected to survive. Porche is charged with felony child abuse and attempted murder. She remains jailed and is ineligible for bail.

While neighbors say Porche -- who has a rap sheet that includes arrests for prostitution, domestic violence and disorderly conduct -- wasn't a good mother and always verbally abused the girl. Porche's mother, Tasanee Wright, says her daughter is suffering from depression.
