This Panhandler is the First to Accept Cash ... And Credit Card Donations
We are becoming more and more a cashless society and an enterprising homeless man in Detroit named Abe "“Honest Abe" Hagenston is taking notice. The 42-year-old, who has been living on the streets for 10 years, has become the first homeless person in the world with a web site (which he updates from a public library) and accepts credit card donations. “I take Visa, Mastercard, American Express,” he told a local TV station. “I’m the only homeless guy in America who can take a credit card." He says payments are processed through the Square credit card reader which he attaches to his cell phone. He told another TV station: “Being homeless is my business now. My business is being homeless.” Hear, hear.
